About seals, plaques and stamped pieces

Seal matrices, plaques and stamped tokens were how people proved who they were and what they owned. A seal pressed into wax authenticated a letter or a deed; a stamped plaque could mark membership, a prize or a dedication. Because they were made to carry a design, they often preserve names, symbols and fine detail that other finds lose.
